Learning Coach

SCP 22 - 24 Term Time Only + 1 week (£18,319 – £19,819) Actual Salary

The Ladder School is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join our team, prior to our move into the school’s temporary accommodation in February.

The Ladder School is an academy that is part of The Mercian Trust. The Ladder School is a Free School set up by the trust to offer effective alternative provision for the young people of Walsall.

Based on the edge of Walsall town centre there are excellent links to the local and wider community. The Ladder School will operate under a commissioning model, where local mainstream schools will identify students at risk of permanent exclusion and will move them to The Ladder School, to reform their behaviour and enable them to be successful in their future.

The Learning Coaches will be required to offer in class and out of lesson support to a group of students. They will be the first point of contact for parents in relation to the students they Key Work. They will be responsible for Key Working up to 14 students. The applicants should have experience of dealing with students that display challenging behaviour and should have worked in a relevant educational setting. All applicants must have a minimum qualification of Grade C/4 in English and Maths at GCSE level.

A good knowledge of supporting core subjects (English, Maths and Science) and the ability to deliver vocational courses up to level 2 would be an advantage. We are particularly interested to hear from individuals that would be willing and able to deliver courses in Travel and Tourism and Catering and Hospitality. We would also love to hear from graduates that our looking to train to become teach, as we can support routes into achieving qualified teacher status.

Staff should have a real interest in the pastoral aspects of education and should be committed to working as part of a close-knit team.
